Feeling Good Feels Great Blog
When was the last time you did something for yourself? Too often, we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and forget to take care of ourselves. We are constantly giving to others—our family, our friends, our jobs—and we forget to give to ourselves. But if we don't take care of ourselves, we can't take care of others. We need to do what makes us feel good so that we can be our best selves. Here are three reasons why taking care of yourself is important.
1. When you feel good, you're more likely to be productive. If you're stressed out, burnt out, or just generally unhappy, you're not going to be very productive. You might be able to slog through your to-do list, but it's not going to be pretty. On the other hand, when you're taking care of yourself and doing things that make you feel good, you'll be surprised at how much more productive you are. You'll have more energy, more motivation, and more focus. So if you want to get things done, start by taking care of yourself.
2. When you feel good, you're more likely to attract good things into your life. This one might seem a little woo-woo, but bear with me. Every day, we're bombarded with stressors—bad traffic, long lines at the grocery store, rude people. It's easy to get caught up in all the negative things that are happening around us. But when we take care of ourselves and focus on feeling good, we open ourselves up to attracting more positive things into our lives. We start seeing the good instead of the bad. Suddenly, the long line at the grocery store isn't so bad because we know we have time for a relaxing bath when we get home. Attracting positivity into your life starts with taking care of yourself and feeling good.
3. When you feel good, you set a better example for others. We all have people in our lives who look up to us—our kids, our spouses, our friends, our coworkers. And whether we realize it or not, we are always setting an example for them with our actions and our words. So if we want them to live happy and healthy lives, it starts with us living happy and healthy lives. When we take care of ourselves and do what makes us feel good, we are setting a good example for those around us and showing them that it's important to take care of themselves too.
Self-care is so important—for our productivity, for attracting positivity into our lives, and for setting a good example for others—but it's often something that we forget about or put on the back burner because we think there's always someone else who needs our attention more than we do. But if we don't take care of ourselves first, we can't take care of anyone else. So start small—do something every day that makes you feel good—and watch as your life starts improving in ways you never thought possible."
